Nature & Curly Hair what’s up?

Truth is, the beauty industry doesn’t regulate the term « natural. » Therefore, a product can use the label even if it only has one natural ingredient in the formula. I’ve been trying quite a lot of different brands looking for the ultimate hair routine since I started my natural hair journey… As far as I’m concerned it’s been quite difficult to find products that meet my needs especially when I’m on my natural curly hair days.  Some products are too heavy and leaves my hair dull and some are just too harsh and make my hair shrink a lot. I also go back and forth between a curly and a straight hairstyle because I enjoy both.
I love to try new products and see how my hair reacts to it  so when I heard that Mizani and Kérastase had launched new ranges. One for natural hair (Mizani) and one with natural ingredients (Kérastase). So I thought I’d give it a try since I’ve been loving this brand for a while and it worked pretty well on my straight hairstyles. I’m not that picky when it comes to chemicals in my hair products or even skincare products but I’m open to trying new things as long as it works well.
Here are 4 natural hair products I’ve been loving recently for my curly hairstyles.

MIZANI True Textures Curl Define Pudding

MIZANI True Textures

One of the products I got really excited to try was the MIZANI Curl Define Pudding since I was looking for something that would define and elongate my curls. Well it did define my curls except for the elongating part. I would recommend using this product with damp hair when doing twist outs as it really holds the moisture, and it is light weight.

I definitely think it will become my go-to product for the summer!

Designed for coiled to extremely tight styles, this paraben and wax-free formula offers intense moisturizing, styling manageability, lightweight hold, frizz control and shine. Elongate and define curls for softer, shinier hair after this curl care treatment formulated to hydrate with Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Marula Oil. Great for curly hair of all lengths and effective on every texture, from loose waves to tightly coiled curls, this professional styling product offers moisture and hold without flaking or residue. Enjoy softer, sleeker hair with no flakes after this essential hair health treatment.

Mizani Supreme Oil

Another product I enjoyed using was the Mizani Supreme Oil Hair Treatment which is a concentrate of 8 natural oils, I use it as a hair bath before doing my shampoo and every 2 day while styling my hair. I helps a lot when my hair is very dry and doesn’t weigh it down but gives it a incredible shine. I mix it with a bit of style product to have a all over even look. I also think it could be a great summer product to protect your hair when you go to the pool or to the beach.

Supreme Oil is a 99% naturally-derived formula with 8 natural oils (sesame, jojoba, almond, avocado, apricot, olive fruit, sunflower and argan oils) that is silicone, mineral oil and paraben-free. Designed for any hair type, this ultra-light treatment penetrates and absorbs to treat and smooth the hair, leaving no stickiness or greasy residue. Experience improved elasticity and manageablity with this truly exquisite treatment that leaves hair with an ultra-luxe velvety touch.

Kérastase Aura Botanica Bain Micellaire

Kérastase Aura Botanica

Now let’s talk about Kérastase who has launched its first natural (96% including Samoan coconut oil, Moroccan argan oil, and sweet orange essential oil) and biodegradable hair care 4 step range Aura Botanica earlier this year.

While there are countless skin, makeup, and even nail ranges made of organic, sustainable ingredients, the same can’t be said for hair products. Especially for my type of hair.

The range includes a shampoo, conditioner, treatment serum, and oil spray. I went for the Bain micellaire shampoo and conditionner. I skipped the treatment serum and oil since I already use the one from Mizani.

I was a bit scared to try the shampoo since I’ve been disappointed by so many products that would make my hair super dry but the Bain Micellaire was very gentle on my color-treated hair. I removed the dirt and impurities efficiently and left a shiny finish. And for the Soin Fondamental I truly enjoyed using it since the texture is very thick (which I personally love) it melts into the hair fiber for deep, durable nutrition and frizz control. Easy detangling due to the high concentration of natural oils – coconut, argan and sweet orange. Highlighted by an aromatic fragrance of sweet orange essential oil.

Utilising 96% natural origin ingredients, including responsibly sourced Samoan Coconut Oil and Moroccan Argan Oils, the nourishing micellar shampoo gently yet effectively cleanses away dirt and impurities; it transforms into an airy lather and is naturally coloured by caramel pigments.

Infused with Sweet Orange Essential Oil, the shampoo will expertly cleanse tresses whilst imparting an aromatic scent. Hair is protected against frizz and looks nourished, three times shinier and re-energised.
